Here are some quotes taken from one of our recent CQC reports

  • People continued to receive kind and compassionate care. One person told us, "The staff are all very kind and patient. We get to know them all as friends."
  • Staff spoke affectionally about the people they supported and knew people well to meet their needs. One person told us, "Some of the staff are like family."
  • People were able to express their views and were actively involved in making decisions about their care, support and treatment on a daily basis. One person told us, "I only have to ask and its done".
  • People living at the home were able to communicate their needs and choices clearly. We observed staff giving people the time they needed to support them in a compassionate and personal way. One person told us, "I have lived in the home for three years and the staff are excellent, I choose when I get up and when I go to bed. This is my home."
  • Staff had a good understanding of equality, diversity and human rights and people's differences were respected. One relative told us, "Dad is treated with respect by all the staff and the weekend staff are as great as the weekday staff."
  • Care plans provided guidance to staff to promote people's independence and they had a good understanding of the importance of supporting people to remain independent. One member of staff told us, "I encourage people to do as much as possible for themselves". One person told us, "When the daily newspapers are delivered, I take them round to people's rooms. I also help the gardener by watering the plants in the Summer."

"When husband came to Wilbury he was very poorly indeed. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and I knew it was the right decision to have made. Throughout his time here he has the feeling of security and whatever the day might hold there is always someone there for him with a kind word a reassuring touch and a feeling that he is important to them.

There is fun too and on several occasions, I have joined the party goers. It's a pleasure to see and hear so much laughter about the place. Every one of the staff has the personal touch and time to give even when they are so busy. It's such a super place."

"I have been very well cared for, for which I have felt grateful. The carers have been ready to help at all times, with anything for each of us showing no preference.

They are sensitive to the difficulties some of us have and are careful not to embarrass anyone. With such care each of us is comfortable and can relax."

"I am now in my 92nd year having enjoyed a very full life happier and more successful than I either expected or deserved. Nonetheless, I count the three and a half years at Wilbury as amongst the happiest.

This is a large townhouse extended and updated with a lovely garden. Newsagent, church, county cricket ground and very hospitable pub are still within walking distance.

But it is the very friendly and competent staff who really make this such an outstanding home.

Perhaps most of all it is due to an inspirational manager whose unfailing warmth and good humor is reflected in the way we all treat each other."

"I have stayed at some top hotels but Wilbury is far the best in every way "like a top hotel" (5 star). The staff work very hard each day."

"My mother moved into Wilbury six weeks ago, aged 92. She has been on her own with daily carers since our father died 20 months previously becoming increasingly isolated and withdrawn. Within days at Wilbury she was transformed. The staff are wonderfully caring, good humored and sensitive to everybody's individual needs. They made mum feel at home among friends but did not overwhelm her. Now they encourage her to take part in activities but do not push. Her room is small but homely, she loves the food and the company. Her room looks out over a lovely garden which I am sure she'll enjoy in the spring. Mum has mild dementia and the staff are kind and caring and tolerant. They couldn't be better and they have supported the family throughout and made the transition bearable. We can't thank them enough."

"I was so lucky to find Wilbury when looking for a place for my father. The home is a real home, very personable and friendly with lovely and efficient, caring staff. I couldn't wish for a better place."
